“When I was a kid, I thought I had my life figured out. I knew where I was going. I was sure of whom I was and what I was. I was wrong. See, life is a journey of twist and turns that mold who we are; however, it is not the twist and turns which mold us, but rather, how we take and handle the twist and turns thrown at us. It was not until life threw me flat on my face that I truly discovered who I am and what I am. I am a perpetual work-in-progress. And you know what? I am quite all right with that.”—Cristina Marrero (via tror)
“I thought, Will anyone be the better for making me miserable? And the answer came back, no. No one will. There’s no one to fret, no one to condemn, no one to bless me for being a good girl, no one to punish me for being wicked. Heaven was empty. I didn’t know whether God had died, or whether there never had been a God at all. Either way I felt free and lonely and I didn’t know whether I was happy or unhappy, but something very strange had happened. And all that huge change came about as I had the marzipan in my mouth, before I’d even swallowed it. A taste, a memory, a landslide.”—The Amber Spyglass; Philip Pullman (via cake-light)
Once the cold weather hits, I’m always a little sad that all of the wonderful summer fruits won’t be in season for the next six months. However, knowing what is in season from September to December will help you plan and coordinate your diet. I’m even looking forward to most of these!
